Storms In The Nighttime

In the dark on a lonely road
Semis slow then slower still as we
Pass around them through an awkward bend.
Long day past, a long night ahead.
This way home, all I have is a
Walkman on shuffle playing
Songs of melancholy and other
Heartaches while I drift in and
Out of a conscious sleep.
The night weeps in passing
Showers of rain of which I am accepting,
It is okay, there is something
About storms in the nighttime which
Brings an easing perspective
To otherwise preoccupied thought.
