Oregonia Road

I found myself lost
Between the August corn stalks
On Oregonia Road.

I forsook the speed limit
Upon the hills and the
Descending depths,
Hearing my tires screech
Around the razored turns.

I should have made a right
Hand turn, up the heights
Of a street unnamed, but westward
I sped until I stumbled
Into Lebanon.

I found myself lost on
Oregonia Road and wishing
To stay there, where I imagine
Few ever go.

It seems to me I could
Call it my Place Beyond The Pines.
